West Haven Twilight League Opens 75th Season
A Plus Plumbing defeats Baybrook Remodelers 8-0
West Haven, CT, May 19, 2007 – The West Haven Twilight League began its seventy-fifth season on Saturday at Quigley Stadium. The game, which featured Baybrook Remodelers taking on last year’s league champions A Plus Plumbing, was kicked off by West Haven Mayor John Picard throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.
A Plus Plumbing opened the scoring in the top of the first inning as Jose Ortiz scored on a Ryan Cimino single. The score remained the same until the third inning when A Plus broke the game open.
Baybrook Remodelers starting pitcher Scott Dobrydney allowed consecutive walks to Bob Pentino and Jose Cruz to start the inning, and A Plus Plumbing first baseman Henry Lee followed with a three-run home run to take a 4-0 lead. A Plus did not look back from there as they tacked on four more runs off the bats of Pentino, Ortiz, and Alan Barbaro to secure the 8-0 victory. Baybrook Remodelers reliever Justin Lawrence held them scoreless from there, allowing just one hit over the final two and a third innings.
Brian Gouin, the league’s Most Valuable Player in 2006, pitched a complete game holding Baybrook to just three hits to earn his first win of the season.
